Introduction
Adolf Hitler (1889–1945) was the leader and founder of the German National Socialism (or Nazism) and a dictator of the Third Reich. He influenced enormously the events of the Second World War, and his razism and anti-semitic perspective resulted in the holocaust.
Thanks to his ability to manipulate people, he managed to got a lot of power and fame. He murdered a lot of people (jews, homosexuals, comunists...), distroyed Germany and other places (like Gernika), discriminated people like him, impulsed the razism... He hurt the world.
The next videos are an example of how he convinced people:
“Words build bridges into unexplored regions."

HIS CHILDHOOD AND YOUTH
On 20 April 1889, Hitler was born in Braunau am Inn, Austria, close to the border with Germany. His mother, Klara Pölzl, was the third wife and the cousin of his father Alois Hitler (Klara's grandfather and Alois' father were brothers). They had five children but only Adolf and his sister Paula reached the adulthood.
When he was a child, he was often beaten by his father. Years later he told his secretary : " I decided never to cry more when my father whipped me. A few days later I had the opportunity to test my will. My mother , frightened, hid in front of the door . As for me , I counted silently the blows of the stick which lashed my back ". Hitler had been a good student in the primary school, but in his first course of secondary school (Realschule) they suspended him, and he repeated course. His father wanted him to be custom agent, but the young Hitler had the desire of being painter. His father died in 1903, and a year later, the 16 year old Adolf Hitler left the secondary school (without a title). |
IN VIENNA
At the age of 18, he moved to Vienna with money inherited after his father's death, in order to pursue a career in art, as this was his best subject at school. However his applications for both the Vienna Academy of Art and the School of Architecture were rejected.
At this time Hitler first became interested in politics and how the masses could be made to respond to certain themes. His anti-semitic thinking was developed here: "In this period took shape within me a universal picture and a philosophy that became the basis of all my acts. In addition to what I then created, I've had to learn little, and I had to change anything". More than once, he affirmed that he loved that place, he said that Vienna was "a pearl in front of my eyes". But according to Baldur von Schirach, that wasn't the truth; "Hitler never loved Vienna. He hated his people." |
